Electricity in India: Lack (?) And … Use of Electricity

Is India (we) really lacking that much electricity that we can not fulfill the basic needs?

Look at the following pictures and think on above question!!!!!!

It’s really strange that we are having load shedding hours from 4 to 10. On top of this, some villages are getting the electricity hardly for 6 to 8 hours. Still our government is allowing such high electricity consuming lightings…. Why?

There should be some sort of restrictions on the use of electricity for banners, advertisements and hoardings.

We, as a good citizen, should also limit the use of electric equipments. Whenever possible we should try to save electricity by,

· Using staircase instead of elevators (if possible)

· Minimizing use of Air Conditioners or restricting the temperature level by AC to certain value

· Switching off the domestic equipments whenever not in use, such as TV, Fans, Lights

· Switching off the monitor whenever not in use.

India is a major producer and consumer of energy:

* It is the world’s eleventh largest energy producer, accounting for about 2.4% of the world’s total annual energy production;

* The sixth largest energy consumer, accounting for about 3.7% of the world’s total annual energy consumption; and

* Primary energy demand has grown over the last thirty years at an average rate of 3.6% a year.

The total installed capacity in India increased to 137,552 MW in 2005 compared to 131,424 MW in 2004.

Annual electricity generation and consumption have increased by about 64% in the past decade and its projected rate of increase in electricity consumption – estimated at as much as 8-10% annually through to 2020 – is one of the highest in the world.

Energy Poverty

Some 595 million people in India – 60% of the Indian population – depend on Traditional biomass for cooking and heating. The electricity industry faces enormous challenges in providing a reliable service and meeting rising demand.

Reasons:

– Inadequate power generation capacity

– Electricity is either stolen, or not billed

– Lack of optimum utilisation of the existing generation capacity

– Inadequate inter-regional transmission links

– Inadequate and ageing sub-transmission & distribution network leading to power cuts and local failures/faults.

– Inefficient use of electricity by the end consumer

– Lack of discipline.

Save electicity at home, it will automatically save county’s electricity and your money.

Please.. Drive safely

Please … Drive Safely.

Life is very precious, whether it’s your or anybody else’s.

Nobody knows what will happen to the next moment but it does not mean that you should become careless about life. ‘Whatever will happen’ is Faith but driving recklessly, carelessly, means calling unfaith.

I am trying to tell you these things because…. It’s really very sad to tell you all that, I lost my friend in a road accident. He is a victim of an accident caused by careless fast driving of bus driver.

Loosing someone at the age of 23 is really difficult for family and friends.

It’s been a week after this tragic incident, but still I cannot accept the fact that he has left us. I feel that he is still with us. Just imagine what would be the condition of his family?

It’s very hard to accept …

पुणे, ता. १९ – कामावर निघालेल्या सॉफ्टवेअर अभियंता युवकाला एसटी बसची धडक बसून त्याचा जागीच मृत्यू होण्याची घटना आज सकाळी पावणेनऊच्या सुमारास लालबहादूर शास्त्री रस्त्यावर घडली. या अपघातात त्याची बहीणही जखमी झाली आहे. …….
विक्रांत चंद्रशेखर देशपांडे (वय २३, रा. साईनगर, सिंहगड रस्ता) असे युवकाचे नाव आहे. “एचएसबीसी सॉफ्टवेअर‘मध्ये तो गेल्या वर्षापासून काम करीत होता. त्याची थोरली बहीण शीतल (वय २८) या अपघातात किरकोळ जखमी झाली आहे. तीदेखील सॉफ्टवेअर अभियंता असून, हिंजवडीतील एका कंपनीत कामाला आहे. अपघाताला कारणीभूत झाल्याच्या आरोपावरून स्वारगेट–वसई मार्गावरील एसटी बसचालक शिवाजी पंढरीनाथ पवार (वय ४४, ता. माण, जि. सातारा) यांना अटक झाली आहे. विक्रांतचा दुर्दैवीरीत्या मृत्यू झाल्यामुळे “एचएसबीसी सॉफ्टवेअर‘मध्ये त्याच्या सहकाऱ्यांनी आज दुखवटा पाळला. तसेच विक्रांतच्या कुटुंबीयांना कंपनीतर्फे सर्व प्रकारे मदत करण्यात येणार आहे, असे कंपनीच्या मनुष्यबळ विभागाने सांगितले.

पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, विक्रांत व शीतल कामावर जाण्यासाठी सकाळी सव्वाआठच्या सुमारास मोटारसायकलवरून घराबाहेर पडले. विक्रांत रोज सिमला ऑफिस चौकात शीतलला सोडतो. तेथून ती बसने कामावर जाते. आजही सकाळी नेहमीप्रमाणे दोघे जण मोटारसायकलवरून जात होते. शास्त्री रस्त्यावर लोकमान्यनगर बसथांब्याजवळ मागून आलेल्या एसटी बसच्या डाव्या बाजूचा धक्का त्यांच्या मोटारसायकलला बसला. त्यामुळे विक्रांत बसच्या चाकाखाली सापडला. तो जबर जखमी झाला. नागरिकांनी त्याला नजीकच्या खासगी रुग्णालयात दाखल केले. तेथे उपचारापूर्वीच त्याचा मृत्यू झाला. विश्रामबाग पोलिस ठाण्यातील सहायक निरीक्षक कृष्णदेव पाटील पुढील तपास करीत आहेत.

2) Not overtake from a wrong side

3) Drive the vehicle in a set speed according to the route wherein you are driving

4) Take care of proper servicing of your vehicle.

5) Don’t smoke while driving

6) Don’t talk on mobile while driving.

7) Use seat belts.

8 ) Keep safe distance.

9) Wear helmet.

10) Children (Adults also) should not be allowed to play on roads
