Please … Drive Safely.

Life is very precious, whether it’s your or anybody else’s.

Nobody knows what will happen to the next moment but it does not mean that you should become careless about life. ‘Whatever will happen’ is Faith but driving recklessly, carelessly, means calling unfaith.

I am trying to tell you these things because…. It’s really very sad to tell you all that, I lost my friend in a road accident. He is a victim of an accident caused by careless fast driving of bus driver.

Loosing someone at the age of 23 is really difficult for family and friends.

It’s been a week after this tragic incident, but still I cannot accept the fact that he has left us. I feel that he is still with us. Just imagine what would be the condition of his family?

पुणे, ता. १९ – कामावर निघालेल्या सॉफ्टवेअर अभियंता युवकाला एसटी बसची धडक बसून त्याचा जागीच मृत्यू होण्याची घटना आज सकाळी पावणेनऊच्या सुमारास लालबहादूर शास्त्री रस्त्यावर घडली. या अपघातात त्याची बहीणही जखमी झाली आहे. …….
विक्रांत चंद्रशेखर देशपांडे (वय २३, रा. साईनगर, सिंहगड रस्ता) असे युवकाचे नाव आहे. “एचएसबीसी सॉफ्टवेअर‘मध्ये तो गेल्या वर्षापासून काम करीत होता. त्याची थोरली बहीण शीतल (वय २८) या अपघातात किरकोळ जखमी झाली आहे. तीदेखील सॉफ्टवेअर अभियंता असून, हिंजवडीतील एका कंपनीत कामाला आहे. अपघाताला कारणीभूत झाल्याच्या आरोपावरून स्वारगेट-वसई मार्गावरील एसटी बसचालक शिवाजी पंढरीनाथ पवार (वय ४४, ता. माण, जि. सातारा) यांना अटक झाली आहे. विक्रांतचा दुर्दैवीरीत्या मृत्यू झाल्यामुळे “एचएसबीसी सॉफ्टवेअर‘मध्ये त्याच्या सहकाऱ्यांनी आज दुखवटा पाळला. तसेच विक्रांतच्या कुटुंबीयांना कंपनीतर्फे सर्व प्रकारे मदत करण्यात येणार आहे, असे कंपनीच्या मनुष्यबळ विभागाने सांगितले.

पोलिसांनी दिलेल्या माहितीनुसार, विक्रांत व शीतल कामावर जाण्यासाठी सकाळी सव्वाआठच्या सुमारास मोटारसायकलवरून घराबाहेर पडले. विक्रांत रोज सिमला ऑफिस चौकात शीतलला सोडतो. तेथून ती बसने कामावर जाते. आजही सकाळी नेहमीप्रमाणे दोघे जण मोटारसायकलवरून जात होते. शास्त्री रस्त्यावर लोकमान्यनगर बसथांब्याजवळ मागून आलेल्या एसटी बसच्या डाव्या बाजूचा धक्का त्यांच्या मोटारसायकलला बसला. त्यामुळे विक्रांत बसच्या चाकाखाली सापडला. तो जबर जखमी झाला. नागरिकांनी त्याला नजीकच्या खासगी रुग्णालयात दाखल केले. तेथे उपचारापूर्वीच त्याचा मृत्यू झाला. विश्रामबाग पोलिस ठाण्यातील सहायक निरीक्षक कृष्णदेव पाटील पुढील तपास करीत आहेत.

3) Drive the vehicle in a set speed according to the route wherein you are driving

4) Take care of proper servicing of your vehicle.

5) Don’t smoke while driving

6) Don’t talk on mobile while driving.

7) Use seat belts.

8 ) Keep safe distance.

9) Wear helmet.

10) Children (Adults also) should not be allowed to play on roads

India’s First women in air – India’s first lady pilot – Sarla Thakral

The year 1936 when the flying was like dream, flying in air was like miracle.

There were only male in the cockpit of the airplane.

At that time one lady entered the cockpit of a Gypsy Moth and flew into the blue skies, and made a history as India’s first lady pilot.

The dashing, courageous, Sarla Thakral. She was only 21 year old when she achieved that sky.

First inning

Inspiration:

Her husband P D Sharma was the initiator behind that and father-in-law was the supportive of all the things.

P D Sharm’s family after all had nine pilots already and they were all supportive of the decision.

“In fact it wasn’t so much my husband. My father-in-law was even more enthusiastic and got me enrolled in the flying club,” says Sarla and adds,” I knew I was breaching a strictly male bastion but I must say the men, they never made me feel out of place.”

She obtained her ‘A’ license when she accumulated over 1000 hours of flying.

She was looking for the group B license that would authorize her to fly as a commercial pilot. But when she was undergoing training in Jodhpur, unfaith happened. Her husband died in a crash in 1939. She widowed at 24. She abandoned her plans to become a commercial pilot.

 

Second inning:
She joined the Mayo School of Arts in Lahore. But her parents re-married her and she settled in Delhi after partition. She succeeded in establishing herself as a renown painter. Most of her water colors have followed the Bengali School of Art.

Along with paintings she also began designing clothes and costume jewellery.

She supplied her jewellery designs to several cottage industries for over 20 years. She had also started textile printing and her sari prints were a rage with the fashionable crowd.

One of the clients was Vijaylaxmi Pandit.

Now she is 91 years old young lady still flying high in his life.

“Every morning I wake up and chart out my plans. If there is plenty of work I feel very happy otherwise I feel a precious day has been wasted,” she says.

Sunita Williams in INDIA

“I am following the footsteps of Kalpana Chawla…. the legacy of Kalpana…. we want to continue the legacy…,” Sunita Williams said.

Visited to Delhi:Mahatma Gandhi was an incredible individual. His non-violence policy affects every sphere of our life. The whole world has to learn a lot from him,” she said interacting with students of a school in Delhi on the 138th birth anniversary of the father of the nation.

Williams said “Gandhiji had always preached for peace and non-violence and she was proud to be part of a peaceful scientific space project”.

she said she took Indian culture to space as her father hailed from India.

She had carried a copy of the Bhagavad Gita, a small statue of Lord Ganesh and a letter written in Hindi by her father Deepak Pandya and some samosas in space with her.

Williams said she would be happy to see Indian astronauts going to the space and asked the students to study subjects like science and mathematics.

Sunita Williams visited her native village in (Jhulasan)Gujarat :

People of Jhulasan village, William’s father’s ancestral village, welcomed her with true Gujarati customs putting up folk dances.
William said “I think anybody out there– all you children– I hope you don’t feel limited by anything. You have all the opportunities in the world,” while interacting with children of the village.

Personal:
Williams’ father, Dipak Pandya was a practicing doctor in the small town of Junagarh before migrating to the US. Sunita Williams was born in 1965 in Ohio, and is now married and lives in Massachusetts.

Williams is married to Michael J. Williams, a Federal Police Officer in Oregon. The two have been married for over 16 years.

Military career:
She received her commission as an ensign in the US Navy from the US Naval Academy in May 1987. She was designated a Naval Aviator in 1989, and graduated from the Naval Test Pilot School in 1993.

NASA career:
Selected by NASA in June 1998, Williams began her training in August 1998. Her Astronaut Candidate training included orientation briefings and tours, numerous scientific and technical briefings, intensive instruction in Shuttle and International Space Station systems, physiological training and ground school to prepare for T-38 flight training, as well as learning water and wilderness survival techniques

Records in Space:
She has logged 29 hours and 17 minutes in four space walks, eclipsing the record held by Kathryn C. Thornton for most spacewalk time by a woman.
she has logged another record of 195-day stay in space.

On April 16 2007, she ran the first marathon by an astronaut in orbit. Williams finished the Boston Marathon in four hours and 24 minutes . The other crew members reportedly cheered her on and gave her oranges during the race. Williams’ sister, Dina Pandya, and fellow astronaut Karen L. Nyberg ran the marathon on Earth, and Williams received updates on their progress from Mission Control.

In 2007 She has honored by Padma Bhushan by Indian Government, Padma Bhushan is second highest civilian award.
